Pirate's Alphabet is much more than just an alphabet book. Essentially, this is the journey of a pirate captain and his ragtag gang. They travel from port to port, hunting for treasure and trying to avoid capture. The rollicking rhymes of the book are sure to entertain and amuse readers. They will be equally delighted by Kit Umscheid’s clever watercolor illustrations. Umscheid incorporated all the ideas found in the text into the pictures, and her illustrations follow everything the pirates are seeing and experiencing. She’s really captured the sense of playfulness of the pirates as well as bringing depth and feeling to them.
